The ICC T20 World Cup takes place once every two years. However, due to some planning changes made by the ICC and the COVID-19 pandemic, there has not been a single T20 World Cup event in the last five years. Now, fans will witness two T20 World Cups in two years (2021 and 2022).
West Indies were the ICC T20 World Cup winners last time. The first tournament was held in the year 2007 and the next one scheduled is in 2021 to be hosted by Oman and the United Arab Emirates.

The Indian cricket team (Team India) was the first to win the T20 World Cup title. Team India playing under the captaincy of MS Dhoni, India defeated Pakistan in the final to win the tournament. They only lost one game in the tournament against New Zealand in Super 8s. Team India is the first T20 World Cup Champions.
