On Friday, Warne passed away of a suspected heart attack in Thailand.

It was quite a devastating day for Australian cricket as earlier they lost the legendary wicketkeeper, Rod Marsh. The Australian team is currently in Pakistan where they are playing first of the 3-match Test series.

So many guys in this team and squad still hold him as a hero. The loss that we are all trying to wrap our heads around is huge. The game was never the same after Warnie emerged, and the game will never be the same after his passing,” Pat Cummins said in a video released after the end of the first day’s play.

It has been a really tough day after the passing of Rod. We just wish the best for both families,” he added.

Shane Warne represented Australia in 145 Tests and 193 ODIs in his 15-year long career spanning from 1992 to 2007. His Test wickets tally of 708 wickets is the second-highest among the leading wicket-takers list. In ODIs, he finished with 293 wickets which included two player-of-the-match performances in the semifinal and final of World Cup 1999.

“Warnie was an all-time great, a once-in-a-century type cricketer, and his records will live on forever. We all grew up watching Warnie, idolizing him. We all had his posters on the wall,” Cummins said.

He further added that he was everyone’s favourite player.

He was their all-time favourite player. The way he just willed himself and the team around him to win games for Australia… and above all else, his incredible skill as a leg spinner,” Pat Cummins stated.
